The Best Way To Use Your Benefits In 2018

It’s a New Year, and that means that your dental benefits have rolled over! Even if you didn’t take full advantage of your dental benefits in 2017, you can make it a goal to do so in the new year!Curious to learn more about how you can maximize your dental benefits at Carmel Mountain Ranch Dental Care this year? Keep reading to see our top tips on how to use your benefits, or take a look at our patient resources page.

1. Get All Of Your Dental Work Done In One Year

Chances are, your dental plan has a yearly deductible. In most cases, this amount is between $25 and $100, with some exceptions. You may have a personal deductible and a family deductible. If you know you’ll need a fair amount of dental work done, it’s best to complete it all before the new year. This way you’ll meet the deductible and have your insurance help cover your costs before it resets.Once you hit your deductible, a large portion of your dental costs will be covered by your insurance provider.

2. Get Regular, Preventive Treatments

Regular, 6-month checkups and oral cleanings can be covered by your insurance provider, and if they do, it’s best to take advantage of this. A regular oral exam and oral cleaning is the best way to prevent expensive, difficult-to-treat issues such as severe tooth decay, periodontal disease, and much more. And when you get regular preventive treatments, you’ll save money! Most dental plans have an annual “maximum” that they will pay per-year towards dental treatment. For some, this is as low as $1,000, but most plans have a higher annual maximum. Most insurance companies allow two cleanings, exams and necessary x-rays per year, and pay 100% of our fees. They do not charge you your deductible for these services. There may be a few insurance plans that are exceptions to this. We will be happy to let you know before your appointment with us.

3. Save On Taxes With An HSA or FSA Account

Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts both allow you to save money for medical treatments, including dental benefits. Many employers will allow you to open one of these accounts, or you can open an HSA on your own.You can put a set amount of pre-tax money into this account, and use it for appropriate medical expenses throughout the year. Depending on your tax bracket, this can save you quite a bit of money! Learn more about the differences between an HSA and FSA with this helpful article, and see which one is right for you!By combining an FSA or HSA with your dental benefits, you can save big on general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry procedures alike, and that’s a great thing!Get The Treatment You Need With Carmel Mountain Ranch Dental Care!At Carmel Mountain Ranch Dental Care, we’re proud to offer excellent service to your entire family.
